The quantum-optical Josephson interferometer

The photon-blockade effect, where nonlinearities at the single-photon level alter the quantum statistics of light emitted from a cavity1, has been observed in cavity quantum electrodynamics experiments with atomic2,3 and solid-state systems4–8. Motivated by the success of single-cavity quantum electrodynamics experiments, the focus has recently shifted to the exploration of the rich physics pro...

Principles of Metallic Field Effect Transistor (METFET)

Novel type of a field effect transistor (FET) is described. A metallic channel of a metallic nanotube FET is proposed to be switched ON/OFF by applying electric fields of a local gate. Very inhomogeneous electric fields may lower the nanotube symmetry and open a band gap, as shown by tight–binding calculations.

Lens of controllable optical field with thin film metallic glasses for UV-LEDs.

In the exposure process of photolithography, a free-form lens is designed and fabricated for UV-LED (Ultraviolet Light-Emitting Diode). Thin film metallic glasses (TFMG) are adopted as UV reflection layers to enhance the irradiance and uniformity. The Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with high transmittance is used as the lens material. The 3-D fast printing is attempted to make the mold of the lens...

Resonant subgap current transport in Josephson field effect transistor

We study theoretically the current-voltage characteristics (IVCs) of the Josephson field effect transistor—a ballistic SNINS junction with superconducting (S) electrodes confining a planar normal-metal region (N), which is controlled by the gate-induced potential barrier (I). Using the computation technique developed earlier for long single-channel junctions in the coherent multiple Andreev ref...

Controllable nanoimprinting of metallic glasses: effect of pressure and interfacial properties.

The quantitative model proposed here for nanoimprinting by thermoplastic compression molding is focused on bulk metallic glasses (BMGs), but it is also applicable to polymers and other thermoplastic materials. In our model the flow and pressure fields are evaluated using the lubrication theory, and the effect of molding pressure, BMG viscosity, and capillary pressure on the spatial distribution...
